San Marino, the small but vibrant microstate nestled in the heart of Italy, has officially confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. To select its next entry, San Marino will renew “Una Voce per San Marino” for its fourth edition.

This announcement comes as a surprise, particularly in light of recent comments by Federico Pedini Amati, the San Marinese Secretary of State for Tourism. Following Megara’s failure to qualify for the Grand Final this year, Amati had suggested that the country might consider withdrawing from the competition. He stated:

โ€There is something that doesnโ€™t add up to me: for three years in a row we are out of the final. First Achille Lauro, then Piqued Jacks and now Megara. It almost seems that the small states are tooย penalisedย . The game cannot be only for large countries.โ€

Una Voce per San Marino” was introduced as a new format in 2021, replacing the previous internal selection method. Its primary goal is to engage both local and international artists, providing a platform for a wide range of talents to compete for the chance to represent San Marino at Eurovision.

More details about the format and the submission period will be revealed shortly.

San Marino in Eurovision

San Marino made its Eurovision debut in 2008. Since then, the microstate has participated 15 times, with its best result being a 19th place finish achieved by Serhat in 2019. In the most recent edition, Megara failed to advance to the Grand Final, marking the third consecutive year that San Marino did not qualify.
