This year, ERT, the national broadcaster, is opening the competition to all artists, whether they’re backed by a record label or not. It’s a big change from the more recent years when Greece’s Eurovision act was chosen internally. This move opens the door for a wider range of talent to step into the spotlight, adding more excitement to the selection process.

According to Greek media, Sakis Rouvas will be hosting the Greek national final for Eurovision 2025. He represented Greece twice, first in 2004 with “Shake It” which placed 3rd, and again in 2009 with “This Is Our Night” finishing 7th. Plus, he co-hosted the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens after Greece’s win with “My Number One”.

Several artists have expressed interest in competing in Greece’s national selection for Eurovision 2025, some of them are:

Good Job Nicky – He has made previous attempts to represent Greece at Eurovision and is a well-known figure in the Greek music scene. Although he has been vocal about his disappointment regarding the selection process in past years, it seems very likely that we will see him on the stage of the Greek selection this year, or perhaps even beyond.

Evangelia – A popular singer who has long aspired to get to Eurovision, both through Greece and Cyprus, and whose team has already begun working on her entry. This would be Evangelia’s fourth attempt to represent Greece. Despite not being selected previously, the songs she submitted found great success on Greek radio stations.

Tania Breazou – A singer who gained attention during her time on X Factor Greece, where she made it to the semi-finals. Her name has frequently been mentioned in recent years regarding potential Greek representatives, and it seems she has submitted a song for this year’s Greek selection.

Zaf – A rising star from Panik Records. Despite being one of the newer artists on the Greek music scene, he has made waves with his recent releases. Zaf has also expressed interest in participating in Eurovision following the announcement of the national selection.

Vasilis Kourtis – He submitted a song for Greece’s internal selection for Eurovision 2023, but despite being a strong candidate, he was not chosen to represent the country.

Klavdia – One of the final 5 acts for the 2023 contest with “Holy Water”, she has mentioned that she is searching for the right song to submit for next year’s selection.

Biased Beast – While he submitted a song for Cyprus for next year’s contest but was not selected, as Theo Evan was announced last month, he will also submit a song for the Greek selection.

According to Eurovisionfun, artists such as Dodona, Mikay, ARIÁDNE, Steve onemanshow, Socratis Haris, Alexandros Chountas, and Kalli Georgelli (Xannova Xan) have expressed their intention to participate in next year’s Greek national selection.

With so many interesting and exciting names, it looks like this selection is shaping up to be a bloodbath. But we’ll have to wait and see who makes it to the show, who doesn’t, and whether there are any surprises along the way.
