Slovenia’s national broadcaster, RTVSLO, has officially confirmed that Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) will return as the country’s selection method for Eurovision 2025, marking its first use since 2022. This decision reintroduces the beloved national contest, set to bring Slovenia’s top musical talent back to the Eurovision stage in Basel, Switzerland.

Submissions Now Open for EMA 2025

Slovenian artists aiming for the international spotlight can now submit their entries for EMA 2025, with the application window open until November 25. Applications can be submitted directly through the RTVSLO portal, where hopeful participants will vie for one of the coveted 12 competition spots. Following the submission deadline, a panel of at least three music experts will review the entries, selecting a final lineup that will be announced by December 20.

A New Voting Structure to Highlight Slovenia’s Best

EMA 2025 will take place on February 1, featuring an updated two-stage voting format designed to showcase a diversity of musical perspectives. The first round of voting will involve five specialized juries, each awarding points in a Eurovision-style format (1-8, 10, and 12 points).

Slovenia’s Eurovision Journey: Raiven’s Legacy

At Eurovision 2024, Slovenia’s representative Raiven brought the hauntingly beautiful track “Veronika” to the grand stage, securing Slovenia’s place in the final and achieving a respectable 23rd place with 27 points. As RTVSLO looks to build on this momentum, the return of EMA promises an engaging, community-driven selection process that reflects Slovenia’s passion for Eurovision and commitment to musical excellence.

With EMA’s new format and public-driven superfinal, Slovenia is setting the stage for an exciting journey to Basel 2025.
