Get to know Sarah Engels as she prepares for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. In this exclusive interview, she opens up about her music, her message, and the emotions behind her journey — read more to discover her story.

What is the main message behind your song for Eurovision 2026?

The main message of my song is about strength, self-belief, and finding your inner power again. It’s about not giving up on yourself, even in moments of doubt, and learning to stand tall in who you are. I hope that people feel encouraged and empowered when they listen to it.

How would you describe your unique sound to someone hearing your music for the first time?

I would describe my sound as emotional pop with a modern and international feel. It’s a mix of strong melodies, honest lyrics, and a lot of feeling. I always try to make music that you don’t just hear, but really feel – something that connects on an emotional level, but still has energy and strength

What has been the most surprising or exciting part of your Eurovision journey so far?

The most surprising part has definitely been how intense and emotional this journey already feels. I knew Eurovision was big, but experiencing it from the inside is something completely different. The most exciting part is meeting so many amazing artists and feeling this incredible sense of community – even though we’re all competing, there’s so much support and mutual respect.

Without giving too much away, what kind of atmosphere are you planning to create on the big stage?

Without giving too much away, I want to create a very emotional and powerful atmosphere on stage. It’s about building a journey that starts more vulnerable and grows into something strong and uplifting. The goal is really to pull the audience in and make them feel the energy and message of the song in every moment.

When you’re not on stage or in the studio, what is one hobby or activity that helps you recharge?

When I’m not on stage or in the studio, I love spending time with my family. That really helps me switch off and recharge. I also enjoy simple things like being outdoors, traveling, doing my sport routine, and just creating little everyday moments that give me peace and balance.

If you had to pick one song (not your own) that represents your personality, which one would it be?

I would probably choose songs by strong female artists like Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, or Christina Aguilera. Their music really represents power, emotion, and self-confidence. I’ve always been inspired by that kind of energy – music that is not only vocally strong, but also carries a message of empowerment and inner strength

Do you have a “hidden talent” or a quirky skill that your fans might not know about?

I can actually speak different German dialects quite fluently, which always surprises people. I think it’s a fun little skill and it often makes people laugh when I switch into it unexpectedly. And something else people might not know is that I can also sing opera, which is very different from my pop music – but I really enjoy it as a vocal challenge.

What is the one thing you want the global audience to remember about you after your performance?

I want people to remember the emotion and honesty behind my performance. For me, it’s not just about the stage moment, but about the message I’m sharing. And I truly hope that especially women feel inspired and empowered by it – that it helps them reconnect with their own strength, ignite their inner fire again, and feel a little braver in their own lives
