Welcome to our Eurovision 2024 review and rating section! Over the next few days starting from today, we’ll be unveiling our impressions and opinions on this year’s Eurovision entries. Each day, we’ll be reviewing and rating six songs, culminating with a final day featuring seven songs. Stay tuned as we delve into the diverse sounds and performances from this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!

Today we will start by revealing our reviews and grades to the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan and Belgium.

ALBANIA: Besa – “Titan”

Raul: Aaaand Albania did it again… When they do revamps in english they destroy the entire song, excepting Ronela. I loved the Albanian version but this I’m sorry, no.

(Rating: 6.5/10)

Reza: I was a bit disappointed when I heard “Titan” because I really liked Albania’s song before the revamp. But now, I have mixed feelings because there are some positive aspects about this revamp, for example the production is better and sounds more modern. However, those lyrics are cheap & basic and the song lacks the authenticity it had in Albanian. All in all, I still have a special spot for Besa and I hope she will qualify <3.

(Rating: 7/10)

Robert: The second song of the year wasn’t the best. Even the revamp is a bit trashy. I don’t think Albania will qualify for the final because the song isn’t good enough in comparison with the othe songs.

(Rating: 5/10)

Ionut: It’s a song that sounds better after the revamp, but I can’t say that there is anything very beautiful here.

(Rating: 6/10)

Average: 6.13/10

ARMENIA: LADANIVA – “Jako”

Raul: It’s a totally different song than what Armenia would ever send. I have mixed feelings about this ethnic song, but I think that the whole moment will be amazing.

(Rating: 7/10)

Reza: It’s something different and fresh. I love when countries involve elements of their culture in their songs. As much as I love the instrumental of this song, I just feel like “Jako” would have had a bigger potential with more lyrics but it’s nevertheless a cool entry. Can we talk about their pre party performance in Madrid tho? They’re phenomenal! This song may be a dark horse and surprise everyone in May.

(Rating: 8/10)

Robert: Ladaniva’s song is extremely good in my opinion. I think this masterpiece will qualify for the grand final. The ethno touch is really lovable and I adore it.

(Rating: 7/10)

Ionut: It is a very ethnic song, the ethnic influences will certainly not go unnoticed and Ladaniva will certainly remain in people’s memory.

(Rating: 7/10)

Average: 7.25/10

AUSTRALIA: Electric Fields – “One Milkali (One Blood)”

Raul: The song is something that remains in your head. It’s so catchy! However, I don’t think that this is something for everyone and definitely not for Eurovision.

(Rating: 8/10)

Reza: I was very excited when I’ve heard that Electric Fields will represent Australia, as I loved their song in 2019. But this one, it’s just not as good as the other one. It’s still enjoyable and a possible grower and I hope they can elevate it live as well.

(Rating: 7/10)

Robert: The song is extremely cute and I really appreciate it for its vibe. The language represents gives the song a new identity. This is unique and I hope it will qualify for the final.

(Rating: 8/10)

Ionut: I really don’t like this song, no matter how much I tried to like it, there is simply no such option.

(Rating: 2/10)

Average: 6.25/10

AUSTRIA: Kaleen- “We Will Rave”

Raul: WE WILL WIN!!!! This is one of my favourites songs this season! I loved it since the demo was released. Welcome Austria to top 10!

(Rating: 10/10)

Reza: This one is such a good EDM banger. It deserves to be a fan favourite. It’s extremely catchy, likeable and addictive. It kind of fell in my ranking (from 6th to 9th) because of her pre party performances. I hope she can prove me wrong in May but I don’t think she is a good artist/performer, at least for the Eurovision stage. Nevertheless, the song is still a bop.

(Rating: 9.5/10)

Robert: Kaleen is a legend. Austria has sent again a bop for the Eurovision stage. I only hope that it won’t have the same faith as Pia Maria in 2022, even though this song doesn’t require too much vocal range.

(Rating: 10/10)

Ionut: It’s a very 90’s song and surely most of us are nostalgic for that time. I say that Austria will fight for victory this year, but I thought so last year too…

(Rating: 10/10)

Average: 9.88/10

AZERBAIJAN: Fahree feat. Ilkin Dovlatov- “Γ–zΓΌnlΙ™ apar”

Raul: Azerbaijan, finally after last year… you woke up! I like this one a lot! The etnic sound is very nice and pleasant.

(Rating: 8/10)

Reza: I have mixed feelings about this one because there are many elements I like but when I finished the song I was just left unimpressed in a way. I expected something more and it never came. It may though grow on me after some listens.

(Rating: 6.5/10)

Robert: This song is just okay for me. I don’t think Azerbaijan will qualify for the final. The song doesn’t give me shivers and didn’t impress me at all. I do like the oriental influences.

(Rating: 8/10)

Ionut: Finally Azerbaijan comes with a song in its own language, it is definitely a plus compared to the other editions and finally Azerbaijan wants to be in the final.

(Rating: 7/10)

Average: 7.38/10

BELGIUM: Mustii – “Before The Party Is Over”

Raul: It’s a good song, something unexpected from Belgium. I’m curious about the show tbh. At first, I loved it a lot, but now I have mixed feelings.

(Rating: 8/10)

Reza: Objectively, it’s a really good song and Mustii is a very talented artist. However, I just cannot connect with this song. I am simply not finding myself listening to it and it just doesn’t stick out to me like other competing songs.

(Rating: 6/10)

Robert: OMG this is so so good. I think Belgium can win the contest for the first time in so many years. Amazing entry with misterious elements, dark vibe. Amazing job!

(Rating: 9.5/10)

Ionut: Mustii will definitely not go unnoticed, from his charisma to his song, everything is at a high level this year for Belgium

(Rating: 9.5/10)

Average: 8.25/10

Our scoreboard so far:

  1. AUSTRIA – 9.88
  2. BELGIUM – 8.25
  3. ARMENIA – 7.38
  4. AZERBAIJAN – 7.13
  5. AUSTRALIA – 6.25
