EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Portugal, represented by Bandidos do Cante with their song “Rosa” 🇵🇹

1️⃣ Raul: They really don’t want to step out of their comfort zone, do they? :)) I appreciate that they’re putting in the effort and trying to showcase their culture, but at the end of the day… this is Eurovision. Yes, I know they’ve had success with this kind of song, but I still feel like we need something different from them. I’m sure the song will convince both the jury and the televote (we know how Portugal usually does there), and their staging and camera work are always solid. Still, my score stays the same, because it just doesn’t impress me at all.

Grade: 4/10

2️⃣ Reza: This is such a sincere and lovely song! Of course, it is not everyone’s cup of tea, and it is not very “Eurovision-ish” either, but I love that Portugal always stays true to itself and sends something authentic every single time. No one would have expected “Deslocado” to become the most streamed song from last year’s Eurovision, so we should not underestimate Portugal. Even though I am not trying to say that “Rosa” will have anywhere near the same success, I still think it could qualify if the staging is on point and manages to create an intimate moment. Their staging from FdC is not good at all since it feels like a school play, so I really hope they will change that. Anyway, I really enjoy and appreciate this song, and their harmonies are beautiful.

Grade: 8/10

3️⃣ Florin: I love the Portuguese language and the way it sounds, but this is just so boring. Other than the first time I’ve listened to it, I was not able to go through the full song again because nothing is happening. They have good vocals, and that’s where the list of good things I have to say ends.

Grade: 2/10

4️⃣ Stefania: A tasteful and atmospheric entry with artistic depth. It may not be immediately catchy, but it grows with each listen and stands out for its authenticity and emotional delivery.

Grade: 7/10

5️⃣ Laur: I appreciate that Portugal always sends what they truly feel. This song connects with Portuguese audiences. I’m not sure it will translate across Europe. It could be an intimate moment that works with the juries, but not with the televote.

Grade: 4/10

6️⃣ Titi: I don’t really have much to say. The song is boring, flat, and doesn’t make me feel any emotion.

Grade: 3/10

7️⃣ Nella: I usually enjoy each performance of Portugal’s entries at Eurovision but this time it’s just bland. I can’t blame anyone for sending a boy band who sings a sentimental ballad but this time is really bland. I don’t see anything that could catch the jurors nor the public for them to qualify, but I wish them the best of luck!

Grade: 4/10

8️⃣ Mircea: This is so underrated and I’m sad to see people not responding to this as it should. I want to cry when I hear this, because their voices ar so beautiful together. Yes i’`s very sad and not exciting, but sometimes simplicity is the key. I want to see a better staging, something intimate to rely to the vibe of the song.

Grade: 7/10
