EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Norway, represented by JONAS LOVV with his song “YA YA YA” 🇳🇴

1️⃣ Raul: To be honest, I had different expectations here, but Jonas Lovv is still good, anyone’s better than Rybak haha :)) The song is actually really interesting, with that pre-2000s rock vibe — something very nice and refreshing. I really like his stage presence and the fact that everything seems well thought out. Being last in the semifinal, he clearly has a huge chance to make the final.

Grade: 7/10

2️⃣ Reza: Jonas is a breath of fresh air, and he is an amazing performer and vocalist who elevates the song significantly. I am not a huge fan of “YA YA YA” and, honestly, it was one of my least favourite songs in MGP, but the live performance, the charisma, the sex appeal, everything combined, elevated the song a lot. I think this song will do much better than everyone is expecting, but I am sad to see such a drop in the quality of Norway’s MGP, so in the end, I think Jonas was the best option. Norway is also closing the semi-final, so I expect a great staging full of energy.

Grade: 7/10

3️⃣ Florin: His voice is great, the production is good, but the song is not really my cup of tea. Sounds like quite a generic rock song to me, which is not bad, but it just doesn’t stand out in any way for me. The “ya, ya, ya, ya” part is pretty catchy, and I think this helps a little. Could be a borderline qualifier, but not sure, knowing how Norway has flopped in the past even with some with amazing songs.

Grade: 4/10

4️⃣ Stefania: A repetitive entry that quickly becomes monotonous. It’s hard to remember anything beyond a few scattered words, as the song lacks a strong structure or progression.

Grade: 3/10

5️⃣ Laur: The only real option for Norway. Catchy, with televote potential because the staging will matter. I believe it will qualify, even if it’s not easy. It stands out because of the country style, which is different this year

Grade: 6/10

6️⃣ Titi: Norway is probably the country I’m most disappointed about this year. I was used to hearing quality songs from them every year, but this time the exact opposite happened. MGP used to be one of the best national selections, where high-quality songs were always chosen. This year it was a weak selection, and the wrong song ended up winning. A real disaster from Norway.

Grade: 5/10

7️⃣ Nella: I actually lowkey started to enjoy this song bit by bit but still there’s nothing that could bring me back to it. His stage presence definately elevates the song and the concept overall but I don’t think that might will be enough. The “ya. ya.ya” part could be overepetitive at times and honestly people might lose it there. Maybe it will be better in Vienna.

Grade: 4/10

8️⃣ Mircea: This is a guilty pleasure for me, because not many people felt connected with this. It’s obvious how good Jonas is performing his song and I love the energy. Compared to the last entries of Norway it might be a weak song, but I trust the process and I feel this qualifying too, but I cannot see it very high in the scoreboard.

Grade: 8/10
