EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Latvia, represented by Atvara with her song “Ēnā” 🇱🇻

1️⃣ Raul: I’ll never really understand why there’s so much hype around it. It’s a good song, but I feel like fans are pushing it a bit too far into overrated territory… I’m expecting a very intimate performance, something like Estonia 2023. I’m still really curious to see how it will look on stage though — can’t wait!

Grade: 7/10

2️⃣ Reza: This is such a respectable entry, and I do like it. To be completely honest, I wish I liked it even more than a seven, but sadly it did not grab me as much as I wanted it to. The lyrics are very beautiful, but I feel like they are not hitting me as strongly as they should, partly because they are in Latvian. She has superb vocals, and I do quite like the staging. At times, it feels a little distracting, but it is clearly something we have not really seen at Eurovision before, so that is a good thing because it will stand out. I am glad the juries are back, because I really want Latvia to qualify for a third year in a row, so I truly hope they will support her enough to make that happen.

Grade: 7/10

3️⃣ Florin: Atvara’s voice is amazing, but the song feels empty and the NF staging, even tho it’s beautiful, doesn’t really do much justice to the song, as after watching the performance, nothing really stays with me. I’m a big fan of countries keeping the songs in their own languages, but a staging that would maybe help the message of the song cross linguistic barriers would help a lot.

Grade: 5/10

4️⃣ Stefania: I fully understand the artistic direction and genuinely appreciate the intention behind this entry. It is clear that the artist is aiming to convey something meaningful and emotionally resonant, and to a certain extent, it succeeds, the piece is memorable and does evoke feeling.
However, despite these strengths, I am not convinced it will achieve a particularly strong result. There seems to be a missing element, something that would elevate it from a touching composition to a truly impactful and competitive performance.

Grade: 5/10

5️⃣ Laur: I understand the artistic concept, but I don’t see it qualifying. It could be a surprise qualifier, but realistically, the message alone won’t be enough. Not being in English makes it even harder.

Grade: 4/10

6️⃣ Titi: I really like the artist’s voice, but the song doesn’t make me feel anything. I do like the message of the song, but maybe I’m not getting much from it because of the staging. Still, it feels like the kind of song that could easily get lost among the others, which is why I don’t think Latvia will manage to qualify for the final this year.

Grade: 6/10

7️⃣ Nella: This song has a lot of potential to be a dark horse, the same thing our beautiful fairies did last year. The staging elevates the song 1000 more, but other than that it’s just a sentimental ballad, the few we had this year. I could see this getting a top 10 in the juries, but overall flop in the televote.

Grade: 6/10

8️⃣ Mircea: Another ballad which I think it`s a little underrated by the fandom. Atvara`s vocal abillities are incredible, I love the siren sound in the last part of the song. The staging is good, it can be improved, but it`s not bad. The issue about this song is that it can be forgetable and people might sleep on this. I admire how Latvia sends us quality songs in recent years, but they need to improve more if they want to achieve better results in the future.

Grade: 6/10
