EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Germany, represented by Sarah Engels with her song “Fire” 🇩🇪

1️⃣ Raul: Honestly, I don’t even know what to say about it. Personally, it doesn’t make me feel anything, it doesn’t pull me in or make me want to dance. It’s just a filler song, something to be there — nothing more, nothing less. I honestly think it’s a candidate for 0 points.

Grade: 6/10

2️⃣ Reza: I was very pleased with Germany’s national final, and I really liked the three superfinalists, with Wavvyboi and Molly Sue being my two ultimate favourites. However, miss Sarah Engels did not disappoint either. For once, though, I did not really want this type of basic diva bop to go to Eurovision, but somehow Germany still managed to send it. Compared to other songs in this genre, I feel like this one is the most uninspired: extremely generic lyrics, beat, choreography, an uninspired dance break, and a general lack of originality. But at the end of the day, I cannot help but enjoy this song. It makes me want to dance and puts a smile on my face. Sarah is very charismatic and actually a great performer. So even though I am aware of its flaws, I still really enjoy it. I was very torn between giving it an 8 or a 9, but in the end, my final decision is an 8+ for miss Sarah.

Grade: 8/10

3️⃣ Florin: BOP ALEEERT! I was obsessed with Fire from the first listen, I think I played it 20 times in a row after hearing it the first time. I know it sounds like a generic bop we’ve had in Eurovision alredy, but I do noooot care, IT’S GOOD. I wasn’t expecting such a bop from Germany this year, but it seems like they’ve been making the right choices lately, with amazing entries two years in a row.

Grade: 9/10

4️⃣ Stefania: It’s a catchy, rhythm-driven track with strong appeal, but at times it feels somewhat superficial and lacks a distinctive edge. While enjoyable overall, it doesn’t quite stand out and comes across as being included more for the sake of completeness than for its uniqueness.

Grade: 6/10

5️⃣ Laur: I’ve been waiting for Germany to stop sending bad entries. This is a good choice, even if I don’t think it will rank high. They need to invest in staging. She sings very well, and maybe this could be a surprise.

Grade: 7/10

6️⃣ Titi: I’ve been waiting for a bop from Germany for so long!! The song is catchy, and Sarah has a very good voice that supports and elevates the track. The only reason I didn’t give it a 10 is that it’s a pretty basic bop, with lyrics that feel a bit “cheap.” It’s nothing new and doesn’t really have any distinctive elements, but overall it’s still a good song that’s already in my playlist. A bop is a BOP!

Grade: 9/10

7️⃣ Nella: Another bop for the girls! We’ve all heard this type of song before, but if Sara can bring up a good stage it can get some eyes on her instantly.

Grade: 7/10

8️⃣ Mircea: Germany is sending a bop, I can’t believe it. The song is good, but I have an unpopular opinion about it – it’s very basic. For Germany on the other hand, it’s a good song and unexpected. In conclusion, it’s not my cup of tea and I cannot see this higher than 20th place on the Grand Final.

Grade: 7/10
