EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Estonia, represented by Vanilla Ninja with their song “Too Epic To Be True”! 🇪🇪

1️⃣ Raul: I like that Estonia tries something new every year — even if qualifying for the final is getting harder sometimes haha :)) The song isn’t bad, but I’m not really sure where they’ll place. I still think it’ll probably be an NQ… Coming back to the song, it’s not bad at all — the performance will be the biggest advantage here, especially the camera work and the budget, of course. If everything comes together perfectly, we could get a surprise qualification, but personally I’m leaning towards no.

Grade: 7/10

2️⃣ Reza: Estonia had some great options in this year’s lineup, with OLLIE being the obvious Eurovision choice, but they went with this instead. I find the song rather uninteresting, dated, boring, weak, and ultimately not well suited for a competition like Eurovision. I would not mind a throwback, anthemic song with a nostalgic vibe, after all, we get plenty of those “schlager” entries at Melodifestivalen every year, but it has to be executed properly. This one, unfortunately, is not. For me, it is dead on arrival and the most obvious non-qualifier of the year. One thing I do enjoy, though, is the “Kiss Cam” moment from the national final, because that part is genuinely cute. Other than that, I do not really have many positive things to say about it.

Grade: 3/10

3️⃣ Florin: Such a disappointing entry from Estonia this year. Eesti Laul had way more to offer than this. The song sounds so outdated, it’s the kind of song you’ve heard a thousand times before but not by choice, just randomly playing somewhere.

Grade: 2/10

4️⃣ Stefania: Unfortunately, I don’t find this song very successful overall, even though it does have something interesting about it that caught my attention. Still, I don’t think it has enough to qualify. It gives the impression that it has been sitting in a drawer for quite some time.

Grade: 4/10

5️⃣ Laur: The vocals sound weak. I hope they fix that. It feels like the kind of entry that could qualify unexpectedly. There is something about it, maybe the chorus. Still, it would feel unfair compared to stronger songs.

Grade: 4/10

6️⃣ Titi: For me, the song feels kinda dated. The sound seems old, and I can’t really find anything good about it. Vanilla Ninja are very energetic on stage though, but it doesn’t really help. After a top 3 finish last year, I think Estonia might end up in the bottom 3 this time.

Grade: 4/10

7️⃣ Nella: I did not move at all, unfortunately. Vanilla Ninja had an era back in the days, but right now I strongly believe they should’ve just retired! From Tommy Cash to this, this downfall should be studied.

Grade: 2/10

8️⃣ Mircea: This feels so nostalgic but also dated and forgetable, not epic at all I fear. The girls are amazing together, but they deserved to come back with another song, because this one is a weak one. There were better choices for Estonia in their National Final line up.

Grade: 5/10
