EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Czechia, represented by Daniel Zizka with his song “CROSSROADS“! 🇨🇿

1️⃣ Raul: The song is cute, but he seems a bit unsure. I can see the performance being a fail because he doesn’t have much stage experience, and the nerves might get to him. There’s a lot you could do with this song though — if they have the vision and the budget 🙂 I’m leaning towards it being borderline.

Grade: 7/10

2️⃣ Reza: I wish I liked this more because it is exactly the kind of song I would usually go for, but for some reason, this one just does not click with me. There is something about the entry that simply does not grab me at all. Maybe it is the structure of the song that loses me, or maybe it just needs a stronger hook than “crossroadssss ohohohoh.” I am not a fan of the ending either, as it feels very abrupt. I can understand why some people really like this, and I can definitely see it finishing very high with a standout live performance and strong staging, but for now, I am still not sold on it.

Grade: 6/10

3️⃣ Florin: I’m still not sure on how much I like the Czech entry this year. It has many elements that work, but still I feel like something is missing, for me it’s kind of hard to remember how the song sounds like, even though I added it to my playlist and played it multiple times. A solid entry tho, hopefully they will elevate it with the staging.

Grade: 6/10

4️⃣ Stefania: Czechia feels like a risky but interesting entry. The juries will likely appreciate it and could push it up. If the emotion doesn’t come through on stage, it might still land a decent result, but not reach its full potential.

Grade: 7/10

5️⃣ Laur: This is either a top 10 entry or a complete miss. If they don’t create an intimate and striking performance, it could be a major flop. The juries could really push it into the top 10. It’s not an instant favorite, but it has strong emotional potential. Vocally, I hope it delivers, especially the final notes

Grade: 9/10

6️⃣ Titi: Czechia is giving us the best ballad of the year. Daniel has an exceptionally strong voice, and the song showcases it perfectly. I can see the song’s potential if it’s staged properly. I think it could rank very high because it has all the elements to make a large audience connect with the entire concept. That said, if Czechia repeats last year’s staging experience, it could go from “surprise of the year” to “flop of the year” very quickly.

Grade: 10/10

7️⃣ Nella: “Crossroads” is the final boss of ballads. The score is this low just because it’s too low-tempo for Eurovision and we’ve seen entries such as Belgium 2018, which end up not qualifying. It’s not bad in any way, I just think it could’ve done much better as a power ballad or something more was added to the song itself.

Grade: 6/10

8️⃣ Mircea: This reminds me of Gjon’s Tears when he participated in Eurovision some years ago, very special and qualitative. I love ballads and this is no exception, very well made and very emotional. Juries will have a hard choice, because we have many good ballads on semifinal 2. I can’t wait to see the staging for this one, probably a very good one.

Grade: 9/10
