EUROAlfa Panel is back! This year, 8 of our members will rate and comment on every single entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! Today’s country is Armenia, represented by SIMÓN with his song “Paloma Rumba“! 🇦🇲

1️⃣ Raul: Kind of unexpected from them to send a song like this. Personally, I don’t like it, but I don’t dislike it either it just doesn’t make me feel anything 🙂 It’ll probably make the final because it’s Armenia, but there’s nothing really wow about it, nothing that leaves me speechless. I’m expecting a solid staging as usual, but that’s about it.

Grade: 6/10

2️⃣ Reza: I feel like Armenia is a bit overhated by the fandom this year. I remember that SIMÓN was not a fan favourite last year either, but I really enjoyed his performance of “Ay paparey bye”, and I mean, he won both the international and national jury for a reason. In my opinion, this is a strong entry which can be elevated even further if the energy matches the craziness of the song, and based on his performance last year, it seems to me that he can pull it off. This entry can go either way: it could easily end up in the Top 10, but it could also pull a “Milkshake Man” and fail to qualify.

Grade: 9/10

3️⃣ Florin: The song is just okay from my point of view. It’s not something i’d put in my playlist, but I think this is a safe qualifier, especially because of the televote. We know from last year’s Depi Evratesil he can put on a show, he just has to do it on the big stage in Viena.

Grade: 6/10

4️⃣ Stefania: I loved his song last year and I still can’t get over it. This entry feels a bit recycled and not as special, the previous one had that catchy factor. I’m sure the performance will be great, but for now it’s only a 6 from me.

Grade: 6/10

5️⃣ Laur: I wouldn’t know what to answer if someone asked me whether I like this entry or not. The song feels a bit dark, but I think it will explode on stage. It’s clearly made for performance. The juries won’t support it much. I only really enjoy the chorus. It’s the kind of song I might play in the morning for energy, but that’s it.

Grade: 5/10

6️⃣ Titi: Armenia is my favorite country at Eurovision; they always come up with something different. This year, they chose to send SIMÓN, and I can only say it’s a bold choice. It’s quite different from what they’ve sent before, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. “Paloma Rumba” is a televote-friendly song with a super catchy chorus. It’s the kind of song that would create an electric atmosphere in a big arena and gather plenty of points from the televote. However, for me, aside from the mega catchy chorus, the song doesn’t really inspire me, so I’ll only give it a 7, being confident it will shine in the live performance.

Grade: 7/10

7️⃣ Nella: I don’t know what to feel about this entry. Is it catchy? Is it not? I have dual feelings every time I try to listen to it. We shall see. I love me some good joke entry but this time, I am not surprised.

Grade: 5/10

8️⃣ Mircea: A guilty pleasure for me. The song is catchy and entertaining, the beat is very addictive. I see this staged very well in Vienna and can collect some good points from the televote. I don`t know how juries will response to this, but everything is possible.

Grade: 8/10

📝OVERALL GRADE: 6.50/10

Scoreboard:

  1. Albania 🇦🇱 – 8.00
  2. Armenia 🇦🇲 – 6.50
