The Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) has unveiled the eight participants for the upcoming Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025, scheduled for March 1st at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning. The event will be hosted by Sara Bro and Stéphanie Surrugue.

A Strong Lineup with High Hopes

This year’s DMGP promises a diverse selection of songs, ranging from emotional ballads to energetic pop anthems. Erik Struve Hansen, head of the competition, is confident in Denmark’s chances at Eurovision, emphasizing that the chosen entries not only stand out on the DMGP stage but also have international appeal.

“We have focused on finding strong songs and talented singers who can bring them to life on stage. I have a really good feeling about this year’s selection,” said Hansen. “We all want to see Denmark back in the Eurovision final, and I believe this could be the year we achieve that.”

The Eight Competing Entries

1. Adel the Second – “The Unluckiest Boy Alive”

Adel the Second, also known as Oliver Adelborg, is an emerging singer-songwriter who has been writing music since he was ten. His song “The Unluckiest Boy Alive” plays with irony, portraying exaggerated misfortunes while carrying a deeper emotional undercurrent. Through this track, Adel the Second aims to solidify his place in the Danish music industry.

The track explores themes of faith and resilience, and Andreas hopes it will connect deeply with audiences.

3. Max Ulver – “Supernova”

Originally from Ivory Coast, he and his family relocated to Denmark, shaping his unique artistic identity. “Allez Allez” is the only Danish-language song in this year’s competition, celebrating perseverance and the power of personal strength.

5. Maria Mathea – “Air”

Swedish-born Maria Mathea has had great success as a songwriter, having contributed to Eurovision entries for other countries. She co-wrote Poland’s 2023 song “Solo,” which became a massive streaming success. Now stepping into the spotlight as a performer, she brings “Air,” a heartfelt ballad about the struggles of toxic relationships.

6. Mariya – “I Belong to Me”

Mariya is a singer and dancer who has overcome adversity to pursue her dreams. Originally from Gentofte, she found her artistic voice performing in Copenhagen’s nightlife scene. “I Belong to Me” is an empowering anthem about self-worth and perseverance, co-written with songwriters behind some of Eurovision’s biggest hits.

7. Sissal – “Hallucination”

Sissal is a rising star from the Faroe Islands whose captivating voice and magnetic stage presence have earned her recognition in Denmark. “Hallucination” is an energetic pop song about the surreal feeling of falling in love, blending modern production with her signature ethereal sound.

8. Tim Schou – “Proud”

Tim Schou is no stranger to the Eurovision stage, having represented Denmark in 2011 as the lead singer of A Friend in London. This time, he returns as a solo artist with “Proud,” an emotional anthem about embracing one’s past and personal growth. Having previously written multiple entries for DMGP, he now steps into the spotlight once more.
