Adam Pavlovčin, known professionally as ADONXS, is a Slovak singer-songwriter, dancer, model, and LGBTQ+ activist whose career bridges music, fashion, and social advocacy. Born on September 13, 1995, ADONXS began his artistic journey in dance, becoming a five-time Slovak champion in IDO street dance disciplines. He later transitioned into music and modeling, gaining recognition for his bold artistic expression and genre-defying creativity.

Early Career with PACE

While in high school, ADONXS co-founded the alternative band PACE with classmate Adrián Čermák. The band, based in London, released their debut EP Keeper in 2018, a baroque pop record that blended orchestral elements with introspective lyricism. PACE performed at British festivals, Pride parades, and even opened for British singer Grace Carter. However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted their momentum, prompting ADONXS to return to Prague and pursue a solo career.

Rise to Fame: Winning SuperStar

In 2021, ADONXS became a household name after winning SuperStar, the Czech-Slovak version of Idols. As the competition’s first openly queer winner, his performances challenged societal norms, incorporating gender-nonconforming fashion, including a translucent dress. His win marked a significant step forward for LGBTQ+ visibility in Central Europe, a sentiment he later reflected on, stating that his success encouraged others to embrace their authentic selves.

Solo Career: The Birth of ADONXS

ADONXS launched his solo career in 2022 with the release of his debut single “Moving On,” which topped the SK Top 50 Chart. The song, a reflection on personal growth and liberation, showcased his basso profondo voice—an unusual trait for a pop artist—and introduced his Greek mythology-inspired alter ego, Adonxs, symbolizing beauty, desire, and androgyny. His second single, “Game,” also reached number one and cemented his position in Slovakia’s music scene.

In November 2022, ADONXS released his debut album, Age of Adonxs, a critically acclaimed record that explored themes of identity, love, and self-discovery. The album earned him multiple awards, including Album of the Year and Best Male Artist in Slovakia. Tracks like “Cold Summer” and “No Common Measure” further demonstrated his versatility, combining pop, balladry, and electronic influences.

Advocacy and Recognition

Beyond music, ADONXS is an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and body positivity. His activism earned him the Cena Inakosti Award in 2023. The music video for “Overthinker” highlighted the Adonis complex, raising awareness about male body image issues and mental health.

ADONXS has also left a mark in the fashion world, modeling for brands like Alexander McQueen and appearing in campaigns that challenge gender stereotypes. In 2022, he became the face of Adidas Originals in Czechia and hosted the Elite Model Look World Final.

Artistic and Cultural Impact

ADONXS’s artistry extends to the stage, where he has acted in musicals like Cabaret and Island! while continuing to perform at major festivals, including Sziget and Pohoda. His work blends bold visuals, introspective storytelling, and a commitment to breaking barriers, making him a trailblazer in the Slovak and international entertainment scenes.

ADONXS is more than a musician—he’s a cultural icon whose career embodies artistic innovation and social progress. His influence continues to grow, inspiring audiences across music, fashion, and advocacy.
