Last week, public broadcaster İctimai Television has announced Azerbaijan’s artist for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest this May.

JIVA will represent Azerbaijan on the stage in Vienna, marking the country’s 18th participation in the contest since making its Eurovision debut at Belgrade 2008. Her song is called Just Go, and it will be performed in the first half of the second semifinal, scheduled on May 14th.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade and has participated regularly since, becoming one of the contest’s more successful modern entrants. The country achieved its best result in 2011, when Ell & Nikki won the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf with the song Running Scared.
