What We Know So Far

Greece’s national broadcaster confirmed today that the announcement of the competing artists and their songs is expected on December 20. This reveal will finally answer the question many fans have been waiting for: Who will battle for the chance to represent Greece at Eurovision 2026?

Well-known presenters are set to guide viewers through the selection process. Betty Maggira, who previously co-hosted the Greek national finals in 2008 and 2009, is now the leading choice to present the two Semi-Finals. Meanwhile, Giorgos Kapoutzidis is anticipated to return as the host of the Grand Final—marking his comeback after a 13-year absence.

ERT has officially scheduled the Grand Final for February 7, preceded by two Semi-Finals on February 3 and February 5. The production company behind this year’s shows is expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

What’s the New Format?

This year brings a more open and expanded selection system. Up to 28 songs will take part across two Semi-Finals. From each Semi-Final, 14 acts in total will secure a place in the National Final—chosen entirely by the public.

During the Grand Final, however, the outcome will be decided by a combination of jury votes and audience voting, ensuring a balanced and transparent process. The winner will earn Greece’s ticket to Vienna, the host city of Eurovision 2026.

This revamped system follows the success of last year’s national final and Greece’s notable 6th-place finish at Eurovision 2025, which delivered the country’s highest TV ratings in the past 15 years.

Is Evangelia coming back?

In a recent Instagram post, Evangelia confirmed that she will take part in this year’s Greek national selection. After finishing second last season with her entry “Vale,” the singer announced that she is ready to return to Ethnikos Telikos 2026.

Evangelia had previously admitted she was unsure whether to submit a song this year, explaining that she still hadn’t found the right track to represent her. However, just days before the submission window closed, she revealed that she had finally discovered the perfect song for the competition. With renewed confidence, she stated that she will once again try to represent Greece at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.

Evangelia is a Greek-American artist known for blending contemporary pop with Mediterranean influences, often drawing inspiration from her Cretan heritage. She rose to prominence with tracks like “Páli” and “Fotia,” both of which gained strong international attention. Her signature style is mixing Greek traditional sounds with modern production and has helped her build a distinct identity in the European pop scene.

When Should We Expect the Next Updates?

Additional insights were shared on SKAI’s “Weekend Live,” where journalist Alexis Michas confirmed that December 20 remains the most likely date for the long-awaited reveal of the competing artists and tracks.

ERT is also preparing to launch Eurovision SK with Kelly Vranaki, a new program replacing “Generation SK,” through which the songs and artists will be formally presented.

With the first major announcement only days away, anticipation is building rapidly. As the countdown continues, Eurovisionfun will keep fans updated with every development from Greece’s evolving national final journey.

Last year, Greece managed to maintain its strong standing in the competition, with Klavdia securing 6th place for the country with her entry “Asteromata.” The remix of the song also became a huge summer hit in Greece, recording huge streaming numbers.

Will Greece break into the Top 10 once again? Stay tuned for all the updates!
