Danish broadcaster DR has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 and revealed plans for its national selection. The 56th edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will take place on February 14 at Arena Nord in Frederikshavn, located in Denmark’s North Jutland region.

Erik Struve Hansen, Program Manager for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, commented:

β€œThe ambition of the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is to bring Danes together across the board through music . I am pleased because it means that the show, in a time when we are seeing each other more and more often, continues to be relevant and is something that people from all parts of the country relate to.”

DR has also announced that one week after Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026, Arena Nord in Frederikshavn will host De Unges Melodi Grand Prix on February 21. This spin-off contest is aimed at young performers aged 8 to 15. However, DR has clarified that the event will not serve as a selection for Junior Eurovision 2025, as the broadcaster has no plans to return to the competition this year.

Frederikshavn will celebrate the national selection season with a series of events and activities throughout the two weeks surrounding Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, with full details to be announced later in the year. Ticket sales are expected to begin in September.
