After hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel and celebrating a Top 10 finish on home ground, Switzerland is ready to return to the Eurovision stage with a fresh artistic voice. The Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR has officially announced that Veronica Fusaro will represent the country at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Vienna in May 2026.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, 20 January, confirming that the alternative pop singer-songwriter will carry the Swiss flag at this year’s competition. The song she will perform is set to be unveiled on 11 March, building anticipation among Eurovision fans across Europe.

Eurovision 2026 Switzerland: Veronica Fusaro

A distinctive voice from Thun

Veronica Fusaro was born and raised in Thun, near Bern, and has steadily become one of the most recognisable artists on the Swiss music scene. Her musical style blends pop with touches of soul and rock, resulting in songs that are emotionally direct, rhythm-driven, and lyrically sharp. Her voice, warm and expressive, has become a defining feature of her sound.

Her career reached an early breakthrough in 2016, when she was named “Best Talent” by Swiss national radio SRF 3. Since then, Fusaro has built an impressive live tour, performing more than 500 concerts both in Switzerland and internationally. She has appeared at major festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, Gurtenfestival and Glastonbury, and has supported legendary artist Mark Knopfler at the Amphitheatre of Nîmes. In late 2023, she marked another milestone with a sold-out headline show at Kaufleuten in Zurich.

“I feel incredibly proud and grateful to represent Switzerland at Eurovision,” Fusaro said. “It’s a rare opportunity to share my music on such a meaningful stage with people watching from all over the world.”

Musical journey and creative vision

Fusaro is currently in a new artistic phase, centred around her second studio album, Looking for Connection, released in October 2025. The album explores themes of authenticity, human closeness, and emotional honesty in an increasingly digital world, pairing thoughtful lyrics with danceable grooves.

Her debut album, All the Colors of the Sky (2023), debuted at number five on the Swiss album charts and received strong praise for its emotional depth and confident songwriting. Across both projects, critics and fans alike highlight her voice as the emotional core of her music.

Eurovision selection and staging

Switzerland’s Eurovision 2026 entry was chosen from a pool of 493 submitted songs through a detailed selection process. The final decision was made using a balanced system, combining votes from an international audience and an expert jury, each accounting for 50% of the result.

The staging and visual concept for Fusaro’s Eurovision performance is being developed alongside renowned creative director Fredrik “Benke” Rydman. One of the most influential figures in modern Eurovision history, Rydman has previously directed winning performances for Sweden in 2015 and Switzerland in 2024, as well as Finland’s second-place entry in 2023. His collaboration with Fusaro will focus on storytelling, emotional presence, and a strong musical identity.

Switzerland hopes that this carefully crafted combination of song, staging, and authenticity will resonate with audiences in Vienna, as Veronica Fusaro prepares to bring her music to one of the world’s biggest stages.

Switzerland’s Eurovision journey in recent years has been marked by consistency and artistic ambition. At Eurovision 2025, held in Basel, the country was represented by Zoë Më with the song “Voyage”. Performing on home soil, Switzerland achieved an impressive 10th place in the Grand Final. The entry stood out for its refined, emotional atmosphere and an elegant staging concept that highlighted intimacy and subtle storytelling, leaving a strong impression on both the jury and the audience.
