ORF has commenced negotiations with Innsbruck and Vienna to determine the host city of Eurovision 2026.

The Austrian broadcaster ORF has now commenced in-depth discussions with the two cities bidding to host the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. ORF Director General Roland Weißmann commented:

With Vienna and Innsbruck, we have two very exciting and promising applications. Both cities offer good conditions and palpable enthusiasm for Eurovision. We look forward to the next steps and to further discussions in the coming weeks.

The decision on which city will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is expected to be announced in the second half of August, according to ORF. Michael Krön, Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 added:

I would like to thank the project teams from both cities for their comprehensive, plausible, and creative applications. Based on the documents, we will now begin negotiations and will take the time to discuss all relevant aspects in detail.

Innsbruck is hoping to be the first city outside of the capital in Austria to host a Eurovision contest. Innsbruck, with its slogan “Together on Top”, wants to bring the contest to Tyrol. The bid is focused on the Olympiahalle as the venue for the contest, with the ‘Eurovision Village’ to be located at the Landestheaterplatz in the heart of the old town.

Vienna is bidding to bring the Eurovision Song Contest to the Austrian capital for a third time under the slogan, “Europe, shall we dance?”. The bid is focused on the Wiener Stadthalle, which previously hosted the contest in 2015.

The host city announcement is set to be done on 8th of August! Which one will host the Eurovision 2026? Innsbruck or Viena?
