RIK, the national broadcaster of Cyprus, has begun its search for the country’s next representative for Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland. For the upcoming contest, RIK aims to select an artist based in Cyprus, showcasing local talent. In recent years, Cyprus has been represented by Cypriot or Greek artists living abroad, but seems like next year is going to mark a return to homegrown performers.

Among the local names that have expressed interest in representing Cyprus are Sophia Patsalidou, who represented Cyprus at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, and Biased Beast, who has confirmed submitting a song for next year’s contest.

RIK is set to announce its representative sometime at the beginning of autumn.

Last year, Cyprus was represented by Silia Kapsis with the song “Liar,” which placed 15th, receiving a total of 78 points. Cyprus has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1981 and achieved its best result in 2018 with the song “Fuego” by Eleni Foureira, which placed 2nd with 436 points. Since 2015, Cyprus has failed to qualify for the final only once, in 2022, and their entries have consistently been fan favorites. Therefore, we should definitely keep an eye on them next year, as it is evident they are striving to bring the contest to the warm and sunny Nicosia.
