According to Greek media, CyBC has selected a male singer of Cypriot origin to represent Cyprus in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland. Although the broadcaster expressed a desire to choose a representative who is entirely Cypriot, it appears they have opted for someone with only Cypriot roots.

CyBC is known for choosing artists who are not fully from Cyprus, a trend we’ve seen over the past few years with Silia Kapsis (🇦🇺), Andrew Lambrou (🇦🇺), Andromache (🇬🇷), Elena Tsagrinou (🇬🇷), Sandro (🇩🇪), Tamta (🇬🇪,🇬🇷), Eleni Foureira (🇬🇷) and Hovig (🇬🇷, 🇨🇾).

The last time Cyprus was represented by a male singer was in 2023 when Andrew Lambrou impressed the European audience with his song “Break a Broken Heart,” finishing 12th with 126 points.
